About Ucluelet

How to pronounce Ucluelet?.....  You, Clue, Let

Ucluelet is a small, tranquil and welcoming town of approximately 1500 residents, located on the western shores of Vancouver Island. Backed by the Vancouver Island Mountain Range and facing the open Pacific Ocean, we are lucky to have access to the sandy beaches, rocky shorelines, secluded coves, and lush old-growth rainforested trails of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

These natural wonders are interwoven with the rich cultural history of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, whose presence on the west coast dates back for at least 5000 years; and explorers, fur sealers, fishermen and missionaries of the 1800's and 1900's.

Ucluelet is a popular travel destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Activities include surfing, kayaking, fishing, whale watching, hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, storm watching and beach combing. Ucluelet also features many energetic festivals and events and offers some excellent restaurants, unique shops and galleries, an aquarium, and a range of accommodation choices.
