Bio of Ted & Tracy Eeftink

Ted Eeftink was born in Ucluelet and has lived here his entire life. As a youth Ted and his brothers hiked every beach and trail around Clayoquot Sound and prospected in the old gold mines. Ted fishes these waters with his friends every summer. He became a mechanic and worked in the forest industry until it came to an end in 1993, then he opened his own garage, now Ted and Tracy work together running their kayaking business and Bed and Breakfast. A volunteer for the Ucluelet Volunteer fire brigade for 19 years, 15 years as a captain and now Ted is the Ucluelet fire chief.

Tracy Eeftink lived for many years at Whistler, BC and came to Ucluelet to start a kayak business. Many years were spent skiing in the winter and kayaking in the summer, eventually the friendly small town and Ted won her heart. Tracy enjoys kayaking, cooking, and gets pleasure from being a hostess and helping people have a fantastic vacation. The dream has always been to have a bed & breakfast and to share our love of this area.

"Lovely place, great facilities" 5 stars

Kamante Netherlands September 19,2008

This is a lovely new place with great facilities. I stayed in the Marla Thirsk Room, for $CAN 159 ex tax.
The MT room is on the lower level, with window doors to the patio. View at the water (not the ocean but inlet).
Lovely interior (looked nicer in real than on photos I thought), 2 excellent beds, Bathroom big bathtub, separate shower.

Breakfast was enormous with french toast, fruit salad, yoghurt etc, and served in quest lounge at big table,
good opportunity to meet other travelers. The hosts also run a kayaking business, so they seemed quite busy.
But they took time to give info about area, walks etc. and were really friendly.

"Good choice" 4 star

We stayed in the Emily Carr room for two nights. The room was a good size and was nicely decorated.
It was very comfortable and cozy as well. Right outside the room are chairs to relax and watch the
harbor and surrounding mountains. One nice feature is a common room where the owner serves breakfast for the guests, ...

"Great B&B" 5 stars

Stayed here for 1 night in the Roy Henry Vickers room. Was very nice and modern. Room was well decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. Would stay here anytime we visited Ucluelet. Family running it were very friendly.

"A clean comfortable place to stay near Pacific Rim National Park" 5 stars

john_in_mtnvw Mountain View, California Jul 9, 2006

We stayed at the Majestic Ocean Bed and Breakfast in Ucluelet, British Columbia, for two nights and we highly recommend this place for accommodation.

We were in the Roy Henry Vickers room, and we liked it. It is a bit small, but was big enough for us. The room was clean and tastefully furnished. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and fully functional. The room's French doors open out onto the patio and front lawn, with a good view of the Ucluelet Inlet. The room is fairly quiet (not much noise during the night or early morning).

Breakfasts were delicious and healthy. There was plenty of food, and the room in which meals are eaten was clean and pleasant. The dining table offers some good views of the mountains on the far side of Ucluelet Inlet. Typical breakfast was orange juice, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, pastries and tea/coffee.

The owners/operators (Tracy and Ted Eeftink) are pleasant and helpful.

The location is conveniently near to Pacific Rim National Park, and the cost per night (including breakfast) was quite reasonable.

"A nice choice" 4 stars

If you want a comfortable, nice room near great trails, you'd enjoy Majestic Ocean B&B. We just got back from a 3 day stay in mid-March. Our room (the Emily Carr) was nicely furnished, with a large bathroom. We didn't have a view of the water from our room, but we did have a great view at the breakfast table in the Great Room. My husband saw seals (and other wildlife) in the water every morning while we were eating. The breakfasts were filling and homeade, though I think our American taste wished they were a little sweeter.

On the downside, they are still working on the property (there is a storage building under construction, presumably for their kayaking business), so it's not as pretty as it will be. It will be a great place to stay in the summer.

The highlight of the B&B was advice from Tracy (the owner) about the local area. She gave us a hand-drawn map to some beautiful, unpublished trails. Most of our trip memories come from those trails and beaches.

We were also very glad that we chose Majestic Ocean because of the location and view. The Wild Pacific Trail must be the most strikingly beautiful area of the island--and our B&B was very close to it. And we actually preferred a view of the calmer water, wildlife and the mountains across the way that our B&B had. We thought the views from the ocean side of the island would be better (they certainly charge a lot more), but we looked and liked ours better. We found that there was actually more of the untouched natural beauty on the Ucluclet side (not Tofino). Most of the Tofino beaches have been combed through many times over and the forest trails are smack in between in the Pac Rim Reserve.

Overall, Majestic Ocean was a great choice, especially for the price and advice from a local outdoors expert.
